ERASMUS+

The Erasmus+ program is a student exchange program that has existed since the late 1980s and is run by the European Union. If you are wondering who Erasmus is the name of the program, he is Desiderius Erasmus, a Dutch humanist, classical literature researcher and theologian, who lived between 1466 and 1536, and one of the most important masters of the Renaissance.

Erasmus is one of the programs that students often wonder about. Erasmus is a European Union exchange program that allows students to study in a different country for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 1 year.

In order to do Erasmus, it is necessary to be registered in an undergraduate or graduate program. Students who meet this requirement can apply for the exchange program by taking a look at the required Erasmus conditions of their schools. It is possible to apply to the Erasmus program from the relevant universities.

In general, we can say that Erasmus+ is the most popular student exchange program in the world. In addition to overseas education and internship opportunities for undergraduate students, the Erasmus+ program also includes projects for master and doctorate levels and faculty members. The program, which lasts between 3-12 months, includes more than 4000 higher education institutions from 37 countries, while Spain, Germany and France are among the most preferred countries by international students.

What are the benefits of the Erasmus+ program?
  • For students who want to study abroad, being a part of Erasmus means gaining experience of living in a foreign country, albeit for a limited time, and meeting new people.
  • You will have the opportunity to improve your foreign language in the country you are visiting, to practice and learn with students from different European countries like you. Universities offer free language courses for students who choose most European countries such as Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia.
  • With the Erasmus program, you will have taken an important step for your future career plans and gained a good experience to add to your resume. Do not forget that employers are more sympathetic to employees with overseas education and working experience!
  • Most studies have shown that students participating in Erasmus have a sense of responsibility when they are away from their families and living spaces.
  • And of course, the best part is that you have an unforgettable experience in a developed social environment and you get a circle of friends. With Erasmus, you meet people that you can always visit outside the borders of your own country and who will come to visit you.
