What is the Erasmus+ Learning Mobility Program?

Erasmus learning mobility is the fact that students of a higher education institution spend one or two semesters of their education in a higher education institution in a member country of the European Union during an academic year. In order for the activity to be carried out, your department must have an Erasmus Bilateral Agreement with the relevant department at a higher education institution that has an Erasmus Declaration (ECHE) in a European Union member country.

The aim of the program is to highlight the European dimension in higher education by encouraging and developing cooperation between higher education institutions of European Union countries and candidate countries.

For this purpose, within the scope of the Erasmus+ program, thousands of students and lecturers are given the opportunity to spend some of their education and training abroad every year, as well as joint research projects, intensive programs, curriculum development studies and the financing of Thematic Networks across Europe.

During the creation of the Erasmus+ action, it was aimed to increase the quality of higher education in Europe, to develop the ability to approach different cultures and lifestyles, and to train staff suitable for the qualifications of the employment market in the globalization process in order to be among the most competitive economies of the world as a Union.

From the Erasmus+ program in 28 EU member countries; Higher education institutions in countries that are not members of the EU such as Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, which are members of the European Economic Area, and candidate countries such as Turkey and Macedonia can benefit.

Universities, institutes, academies and similar institutions, which are accepted as higher education institutions by the relevant official institutions of the countries, apply to the General Directorate of Education and Culture of the European Commission, if they are entitled to receive the Erasmus+ University Charter - EÜB (Erasmus+ University Charter - EUC), the student, academic and administrative staff can benefit from all activities within the scope of Erasmus+ and Lifelong Learning programme.

The prerequisite for benefiting from the Erasmus+ Program is the existence of an inter-institutional agreement between the department you are studying and the relevant department of a university in another country participating in the Program. Therefore, students who want to study abroad through the Erasmus+ Program should first meet with the coordinators of their departments or faculties and get information about the educational institutions they can exchange abroad.

Yes.

Unless otherwise stated in the inter-institutional agreement, the exams will be held according to the rules of the institution you will attend. Unless otherwise stated, the exams you will take abroad will be held in the language of instruction of that institution. If you successfully complete the exam and homework there, you will not have any additional responsibility here.

Since the number of courses you need to take at the institution you will go to will be specified in the inter-institutional agreement, there is no specific standard in this regard. In return for the courses that the student is required to take at the university in Turkey, the equivalent courses are determined at the higher education institution and the recognition of the courses taken is registered and secured by the Learning Agreement for Studies signed between the student, the student's own institution and the institution he/she will attend before the exchange period. It is not expected that the course names and contents will be exactly the same, it is sufficient that the course contents overlap. It has been committed during the application of the Erasmus+ University Declaration of the higher education institution, where the courses in a completed Learning Agreement, which must be signed by the officials of the institutions and the student who will go, are to be recognized, and in case of violation, the National Agency is obliged to report the situation to the European Commission and with the cancellation of the Declaration of this institution. may result.  When choosing a course, 30 ECTS credits for 1 semester and 60 ECTS credits for 2 semesters should be targeted. It is considered as a success goal for the student to collect 2/3 of the credits of the courses taken. Successful students will be deemed to have spent the period(s) of their education abroad when they return to Turkey. Students who are deemed unsuccessful will continue their education from where they left off before they became Erasmus+ students, but they will be exempted from courses equal to the total credits of the courses they have been successful in.  The processes related to the recognition of the courses and grade conversions of the students returning from the exchange are carried out by the academic coordinator of the department.

The student who goes to exchange for 1 (one) academic year has to do 60 ECTS, the student who goes to exchange for 1 (one) semester has to do 30 ECTS, and the student who goes for exchange for only 3 months has to do 20 ECTS credits.

Yes, while you are receiving a scholarship in your home country, you can also benefit from the Erasmus+ program by receiving money. Also, your scholarship here continues to be paid out while you are abroad. The reason for this is that the financial support provided by Erasmus+ is not actually a scholarship. Erasmus+ is not a scholarship program.

All students enrolled in formal education (associate degree, undergraduate, graduate) can benefit from the activity.

Visa procedures and required documents vary according to the country of exchange. On the website of the Foreign Relations Coordinator, there are printed documents that need to be prepared in order to obtain a visa. All students who will go to exchange must obtain an education visa and check the Embassy / Consulate website of the relevant country.

In the orientation program, practical information is given about the documents to be prepared by the students who will go to the exchange, the difficulties they may encounter and the issues to be considered.

Just like the students who come to our country, the students who will leave from here must be welcomed in the country they go to and undergo an orientation program. This is usually organized by the student organizations and clubs of the partner institution you are going to, and the Erasmus+ coordinators of the institution and other people responsible for the implementation of the program also take an active role in this process. Before you leave Turkey, you should follow these and similar details from the brochures and information notes to be sent by the university you are going to exchange.

Both the assignment as a staff member and the decision of the Board of Directors must be issued from the institute as a student.

Erasmus+ students enroll in the university they are studying in Turkey, there is no freezing of registration for the period they will spend abroad. Registration and tuition fees are paid to the institutions where the students are registered, no registration or tuition fee is paid to the institution they will go to. However, the destination institution may also request from Erasmus+ students the small amount of payments other than the registration and tuition fee it demands from its own students. Examples of such payments can be sports facilities subion fee, transportation card fee.
